A Sustainable Fashion Gift-Guide for Everyone On Your List by Robyn Hobbs from Le Prix Fashion & Consulting

If your December is anything like mine, it’s loaded with holiday gatherings, work parties, friend pot-lucks, Secret Santa and a desire to not be so wasteful in a time of rampant consumption. With every weekend packed until 2019, it’s hard to find extra time to search for sustainable options for gifts. But thanks to the dedication of many green businesses in our region, a sustainable holiday can be easily accessible, affordable and just as convenient as ‘conventional shopping’. To be honest, I think the whole experience is better.

My business, Le Prix’s, is a second-hand women’s fashion shop and operates by appointment only (which is totally free). This means you get to avoid the crowds, lines, people bumping into you, and the dreaded parking lot traffic. Did I mention you can shop online? You can Wish-list your favorites, share what you love on social media and know that what you’re buying, and the packaging it comes in are green options as well. Yay for environmentalism! Whether you find your holiday gifts through me, or purchase from one of the other fabulous green businesses in our region, there’s no reason not to be eco-friendly this holiday season.

So, now how do you decide what to get as gifts? I’ve put together something for everyone from my own store, and since I am a wardrobe stylist, I can help you pick out the perfect gifts!

The One Who Loves Accessories

You really can’t go wrong with accessories because they are universally flattering for any body type. It’s always nice to get a special little bauble like a bracelet or necklace to accent an outfit. Purses or scarves are also fun gifts during the cold months.

The Hostess

Unique ornaments are the perfect little something to thank someone for making you feel at home when they have you over. As someone who loves hosting and getting in the holiday spirit, it’s fun to add quirky additions to my décor from my loved ones.

The Athlete

Does this person love getting outside or hitting the gym? This is where you can take advantage of the Athleisure trend and get them something that can double as workout gear and keep them looking good to-and-from the gym. A hat is essential to cover up gym hair and kinked hair from a ponytail. And let’s be honest… track pants are ultra comfortable. They can be paired with sneakers and a sweater. The person receiving these may love their gift so much, they’ll lounge at home in them.

The Jetsetter

This person really loves to collect experiences, so something that can make their travels fun and Instagram-worthy is perfect. A purple suede passport cover is cute and functional. A travel wallet to hold all your essentials like a pen, passport, cards packs a lot of perks in something small. They already have those covered? A sturdy sunglass case is underrated because your favorite shades should stay protected on your travels. I’ve personally broken too many to count before I got a protective case. Since Winter can be long, a sun destination may be on their calendar and a breezy silk dress for the beach and beyond is an easy gift they can roll up and put in their carry on.

The Queen

You may know someone who loves to be glam, and a little bit extra. Sustainability doesn’t have to be compromised to make her happy. Statement pieces are they way to go, with something metallic or sparkly. I love chain fringe and it’s been very popular with my clients. Statement earrings can make a simple outfit memorable, and a metallic silk dress can be belted, dressed up, or worn with a pair of flats.

The Minimalist

Just because you have a minimalist to shop for, doesn’t mean you need to be stumped on what to get them. Keep in mind that pieces should be simple, versatile, and understated. This structured black bag is perfect with hints of gold hardware. A playful earring with gold marbling adds a bit of fun that won’t overtake the outfit and is very on trend.

The possibilities are endless and if you need some help finding the perfect gift, I’m more than happy to help. To be honest, I do a little happy dance when I get new clients and my existing ones are happy! Happy holidays from Le Prix!

For Robyn, sustainable fashion is a great way to introduce people to environmentalism. Shopping at Le Prix is a fun and convenient way to buy sustainably. She makes the experience as good, if not better, than ‘conventional’ shopping. It’s important to her that the women who shop for her clothing feel safe, supported and good about themselves. She wants every woman to feel confident and like a boss in their everyday life, within any budget. She also values supporting women workers across the planet by encouraging clients to shop ethically and sustainably sourced fashion.
